Just a Plane Ride Away, I'm so glad you've managed to create a bit of space for yourself and your art. Even if it's just a corner of your living room, it's so vitally important to have somewhere. For years I worked at the kitchen table and had to clear stuff away when I was done but it was still a small space where I could make art and in those early days of mothering, it was a lifesaver for me. Having a place to work can really ground us.

Hi Susan, thank you for your kind words, I'm so glad that you love the blog - I do too! It's only been around for about 6 months so it's still fairly new and that's probably why you hadn't seen it before.

Hi Hanna, I'm already a member of that Flickr group, it's great, isn't it. I love seeing the different ways that people set up their spaces.

Thanks for the kind words about the blog, I'm glad that you enjoy it.

Hi Cally, I hope you get your working space together soon, although I think that our studios are never truly finished, they're always 'works in progress' because they're active, living, breathing spaces. Damp is rarely helpful though.

when i had it, my own spaces swing between the extremes of the Bacon's bomb site and the chilling organisation of a compulsive obsessive.

currently it wavers between the light of your current space and the dampness of your basement. i long to have the energy to finish my renovations so i can finally continue the process of settling into the space i was making. i think studio forming is a very creative act in itself and it's good to hear yours is shaping up well.

Kirsty, thank you for this post. I moved to the UK nine months ago and have missed the stuido space I had in my home in the US. I have finally carved off a little bit of my own space here and I feel--"aaahhh" so much better. Thanks for the links for Hepworth and Bacon's studios. I, too, like to see where artists work--it's so inspiring.
