Email Problems

My email is currently very unhappy. If you’ve tried getting hold of me that way this week, I’m not ignoring you, I just almost certainly haven’t received it. I can post out OK but I’m getting very little inbound mail despite knowing that there’s plenty mail out there (LJ, WordPress and Flickr comments + tons of stuff from my Yahoo groups). Of course, the damn spam can still get through!

Goodness knows what our stupid email provider is playing at – my resident geekboy is trying to sort it out with them but in the meantime, if you need to get hold of me urgently you can try leaving comments on this post. I’ll be checking back here occasionally.

I am an artist & purveyor of obsessive projects based in Hebden Bridge, England. My work involves the accretion of large numbers of small objects - pins in fabric, knots in string or hundreds of envelopes - to make sculptures that deal with fragility, loss, repetition, obsession and time.

    i had a similar problem. at one point i was being flooded with 500-1000 spam emails a day. check with your resident geek boy. it may be that a crawler (i think that is the term) is using your contact page to send others email and then it bounces back to you and not them. that was my case. my resident geek boy changed the way my contact page works and voila, very little spam.

    i had a similar problem. at one point i was being flooded with 500-1000 spam emails a day. check with your resident geek boy. it may be that a crawler (i think that is the term) is using your contact page to send others email and then it bounces back to you and not them. that was my case. my resident geek boy changed the way my contact page works and voila, very little spam.

  3. Hi Lindsay, I’ll get him to check that too but apparently our email provider has just changed their spam filters and the filters think that all my legitimate email is spam. Of course, actual spam is still getting through! It’s been more than a week now and they’ve been useless at sorting it out, I am less than pleased and I’m thinking of changing email. I don’t particularly want to though because I only changed my email address about two months ago. Still, as a self employed person, I can’t cope without reliable email.
