I’m very excited

Guess where I'm going!

Yep, I've just got back from the bank and they gave me a loan so I will be going to my brother's wedding in Australia. The wedding is on the 8th March but I'll probably go over in the last week of February and stay for about 3-4 weeks (there's no point in going for any less). I'm mostly going to be in and around Sydney, Kiama and the Blue Mountains area, although if I go for 4 weeks rather than 3, then I might be in Melbourne for a few days as well.

Anyway, if you're in that area and would like to meet up, please do let me know. Or if you've visited Australia and have any handy advice or recommendations, that would be helpful: obviously, I'm especially interested in art related things but any tips would be great.

Oh, my mind is reeling. I have so much to organise to make this happen, like renewing my passport, organising a visa, sorting out accommodation and about a zillion other things. Of course, now I'm wondering if I could do a little mini-project while I'm over there although I'll certainly be doing a travel journal in the beautiful book that I got from Kaija in the Paying It Forward exchange and that might be enough.

Er, I think I might need to go and lie down and boggle for a bit: I'm feeling a little overwhelmed.

  1. Kirsty, this is very exciting news, indeed! It will be wonderful to hear all about your travels there. And especially nice will be the chance to be there for your brother. I will be watching your blog to see how all of your prep is going. Now, take a deep breath and let it out slowly....Great News!

  3. Hi,
I am in Sydney and I was sitting drawing the Opera House only yesterday. Maybe we could meet up & go to an exhibition. I was doing just that with a blogger from Canberra yesterday.

  5. That's the curse of creativity and a busy life: our passion and enthusiasm are sometimes (or often) overwhelming! Ah yes, life is bittersweet!

Hope you have a great trip and enjoy your brother's wedding!

  7. Thanks Kim, yes, I'm still very excited although my son has been quite unwell lately with stomach problems and if we don't find out what's wrong, there is a chance that I may not go.

Thanks Chris, it'll be nice to go off for an adventure and I'm intrigued to see just how different the light and colours are in Australia.

  10. Hi Wendy, how exciting that you're in Sydney, I'd definitely like to meet up. I'll email you nearer the time, when I know what my plans are. Unfortunately, as I was saying to Kim earlier up the thread, my son has been unwell lately with an undiagnosed stomach problem so there's a chance that I may not get to go but I should know for sure in a week or so.

  12. I hope you get there some day, Shea. It's not somewhere I've always wanted to visit but I am interested and looking forward to it. It seems a little unreal still, the idea that I could visit the other side of the world is very strange.

  14. Oh yes, I know the sense of overwhelm far too well, Lydia. I sometimes think that I live my whole life in that state but it's something I'm trying to change.

Thanks for the good wishes, I'm sure the wedding will be great.

  16. Kirsty, I do hope your son is better soon. There is nothing like having a child with medical issues....no matter the age! Hang in there and I will be sending lots of positive energy your way for your son's recovery and your trip!
